Support: Web Configurator - License key info not populating after saving
Web Configurator -- License key info not populating
- The Snow License Manager key is not able to activate product (i.e. after server migration)
- License key info for all products is not populating at all and will not retain any info after applying and exiting
Environment
- Web Configurator for SLM 7 & SLM 8 (all sub-versions of product apply).
Analysis
- License key information was entered into the 'License' tab in the Web Configurator
- When the key is activated and applied it seems that everything is saved
- If you open the Web Configurator again and select the 'License' tab, the key information is missing
- There may/may not be an error message in the logs stating it cannot connect (C:\Program Files\Snow Software\Snow License Manager\Web\Logs)
Resolution
- Verify that the account, 'LicenseManagerUser' has the correct permissions/schema to the SnowLicenseManager database
- If the customer does not want to use the 'LicenseManagerUser' account, they can use a different service account, but must modify the DB user for the following; SMaCC, Web Configurator.
Cause
- This can occur when migrating to another SQL server and permissions/schema are not transferred over correctly
- While very uncommon, this can also occur if the customer chooses to use an account other than 'LicenseManagerUser'
- Note that you may have to deactivate/reactivate key if there was a server migration and the above has been performed as the hardware ID will be different rendering current activation invalid
