SQL Edition missing in License Manager when importing data from System Center Configuration Manager

Issue

The edition of SQL Servers are missing in all application related views in License Manager. The data was aggregated from System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) through the Snow Integration Manager.

Environment

Any version of SCCM
Any version of Snow Inventory Server
Any version of Snow License Manager

Steps to reproduce

The underlying problem is that SCCM does not collect the SQL Server edition information out of the box.
If SCCM does not have this data, it cannot be aggregated and presented in Snow Inventory or Snow License Manager either.

Solution

For customers that experience problems in gathering information on installed SQL editions, the recommendation is to extend the hardware inventory performed by SCCM to include custom inventory of SQL editions as well.

Cause

The SQL Server Edition information is most likely not collected by the SCCM client.
