How-To: Running the Snow Extender on Amazon Web Services (AWS) with Application Load Balancing (ALB)
Scenario:
- The Snow Extender should be running on an Amazon Web Services (AWS) EC2 instance with an ALB (Application Load Balancer) running web services with a certificate installed configured on port 443.
- The Snow Agent would have the ALB Domain Name System (DNS) configured as an endpoint and will be sending the snowpack to it.
- The ALB then authenticates the certificate and passes the snowpack file through to the Snow Extender on AWS EC2.
- In other words, the ALB would be similar to an incoming DMZ part before the Snow Extender.
- Snow System requirements for the Snow Extender: Snow Atlas (snowsoftware.com)
Implementation:
- You will need to use ACM (AWS Certificate Manager) and configure the correct certificates and DNS entries. Review the following AWS link for more information: AWS Certificate Manager Resources | Certificate Management | Amazon Web Services
