Configure Process Affinity for Snow Inventory Agent
The Snow Inventory Agent allows you to control which CPU cores it uses on a machine. This helps minimize the performance impact on other applications, particularly in environments with multiple cores.
This setting is called Process Affinity and is available in Windows Agent version 7.2.0 or later. It works by assigning the agent to specific cores using a decimal number that represents a bitmask. Each bit in the value represents a CPU core, beginning with core 0.
- Locate the configuration setting
Open the agent's configuration file (usuallysnowagent.config) and find the following line:
<Setting key="process_affinity" value=""/>- Provide the correct value
Enter a number matching the core(s) you want the agent to use. - For example, to assign the agent only to core 14 (bit 14), use:

Each machine may have a different number of cores. The appropriate value depends on the specific cores you want to assign on that machine.
