Inactive machines are consuming a Snow License Manager license

Computers marked as Inactive still consume Snow License Manager licenses. This article explains how computer status affects license consumption and how to free up a license for an inactive computer.

Solution

Snow License Manager counts devices with the Active, Quarantine, and Inactive statuses as inventoried devices. These are status labels assigned to the device.
A computer marked as Inactive continues to consume a Snow License Manager license.
To free up a Snow License Manager license for an inactive computer, you must delete or archive the computer.
Inactive computers are excluded from license compliance calculations and are not included when calculating software license usage. However, they still consume Snow License Manager licenses.
