Failed to edit domain in FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications web UI due to multiple default domains
When attempting to edit a domain, the operation may fail with a MultipleDataFoundException error. This issue occurs when more than one domain is configured as the default in the system. FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications (FNMEA) requires that only one domain be set as the default at any given time.
The following error is observed when editing a domain:
ERROR [plt.actions] Failed to edit the domain.
com.flexnet.platform.exceptions.MultipleDataFoundException: Multiple data records were found.Diagnosis
To confirm the issue:
- Connect to the Admin database.
- Run the following query:
SELECT * FROM PLT_DOMAIN;
- Review the results and verify the number of records where IS_DEF = 1.
Resolution
Option 1: Correct the default domain via the Web UI (Recommended)
- Open the FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications Web UI.
- Identify the domain that should be designated as the default.
- Set the selected domain as the default.
- Ensure that all other domains are not marked as default.
Option 2: Correct the Default Domain via the Database
IMPORTANT: Always take a full backup of the Admin database before making any direct database changes.
- If the Web UI cannot be used, manually update the database to remove the incorrect default flag. For example:
UPDATE PLT_DOMAIN SET IS_DEF = '0' WHERE NAME = 'FLEXnet';
- After applying the update, re-run the verification query to confirm that only one domain is marked as default.
- Retry the domain edit operation in the UI.
After these steps, only one default domain remains configured, and the domain edit operation completes successfully without errors.
